In all honesty, I'm actually posting this outfit a while later, (even though it's showing the date I actually wore it) and for that I apologize. Taking care of a little person takes a lot of time and when I have extra time, I seem to want to spend it all with him anyhow!

I have been getting dressed, though, and sometimes I remember to take an outfit picture. This particular outfit was one of those days! While the end result was not one I care to remember, I thought the outfit was pretty clever!

Yes, I wore this on the day of the BCS National Championship Game. I had a lot of faith in the Tigers to pull out another win against Bama, but sadly, I was wrong. But hey, at least my outfit was cute!

Girls Day Out

Today I got to spend some time with the gals and we took the streetcar downtown to have a nice brunch at Luke, a John Besh restaurant. This wasn't our first brunch at Luke- in fact, the last time we were there for brunch, I actually made the announcement that I was expecting Baby Bean!

This time, though, I could really enjoy our meal, as I had an appetite (last time I didn't) and I wasn't nervous about telling the gang my big news. Instead, our friend N, is expecting a little boy in May, and so we were happy to celebrate with her!

After lots of good conversation and girl time, some of the gals had a bloody mary or mimosa. I, on the other hand, couldn't wait to get back home to my little guy and so I headed home. But the weather was beautiful for a trip on the streetcar!

4 Months Old!

I am such a happy little guy!

So the little guy turns 4 months old on Friday. Wow! He's grown so much in the last month! Everything is so exciting to discover and he loves to play, smile, giggle and laugh.

Weight: 15 pounds, 15 oz.
Height: 24 1/2 inches long
Feeding: 5 oz, 6 times a day
Size 2 diapers, size 3-6 month clothes
Loves Tummy Time, Playing on the playmat, Swatting at toys, pinching Mom's nose, and discovering things around him.
Also loves to make Chewbacca sounds and talk to anyone who will listen and talk back.
Just rolled over for the first time yesterday!

Feel Good Outfit

You know when movie reviewers call a flick "a feel good movie" or something of the like....

well, today's outfit is a "feel good outfit!"

I love today's outfit for several reasons.

Let's bullet point them out.

1. I love this shirt. Something about the print, colors, etc. just make me happy. Plus, I love the style, fit, and the weight of the blouse.

2. I am wearing my pre-pregnancy pants (well the one pair that fits really well)

3. I love the necklace I am wearing and I got it on sale.

4. The whole outfit cost me a total of $61

5. It makes me feel pretty.

I love when an outfit makes me feel good. It certainly makes the day twice as nice! (plus, I already have another outfit in mind with it!)

The other day, I worked a half day because my daycare (mom!) had some appointments to attend to. I am not sure why I forgot to share these photos during the week, but this was my outfit for Thursday, (i think)

I had an Old Navy Groupon to use up- AND a Friends & Family coupon- so, naturally, yesterday I rushed on over to Old Navy to see what I could find.

Of course, nothing that was on clearance caught my eye- but I did find TWO regular priced sweaters I loved- including this little dotted number.

Let's just say, I'm down with it- Pre. Pregnancy. Pants. Booyah! I'm wearing some pants that I wore right before I got pregnant! Holla! (oh, and I'm excited about the tree with leaves changing color, too!)

I can't contain the excitement because, honestly, nothing is more depressing than trying to squeeze your new body into old pants in hopes that you can zip them up. When I was able to put these on, I was a happy gal (especially since I gained 60ish pounds when I was preggers!)

Yeah, the outfit isn't all that exciting- but hey, at least one pair of my pre pregnancy pants fit! YAY!

First of all, I have NO IDEA what I'm looking at above my head.

I am pretty sure that over the last 2-3 years, we've established that I LOVE blue. I love it in all shades- light blue, cobalt, sky blue, navy- you name it, I love it. If I would have had a nice navy skirt to wear with this, I probably would have gone totally monochromatic- but I decided to break it up with a little gray/black.

I am usually all about crazy color pairings and such- but lately, I'm all about wearing neutrals. Today is one of those days where I opted for mostly neutral... and I like it!

Today's outfit is much better than Tuesday's. Granted, it's pretty black and bland, but I love the dots in my skirt. I feel like this look streamlines my figure and makes me look long, lean and mean.

Ok, Not really mean. But it certainly sounds good!

Have you ever had an outfit that, in theory, looked good in your head, but when you see the picture you think- that one did NOT translate!

Well, such is the case with this one. I thought layering this shirt and sweater over this dress would look cute, but boy was I wrong! Not liking it, at all.

Maybe the dreary, cool weather is affecting my judgement?

Momma's Got a Brand New Bag

Soooo.... I had this handbag on my Christmas list- but I just COULDN'T wait to buy it. I have been wanting a purse like this for months so when Macy's had their friends & family coupon special, I went ahead and bought it for myself.

I actually walked into Macy's, grabbed the bag, and paid for it within a matter of seconds. I think it took me longer to park my car than it did for me to grab it and go. I had this handbag pinned for the longest time. So I bought it.

I love that it is a practical satchel and it is big enough to put all of my necessities. Plus, once the Bean gets older, it is also big enough to store a diaper or two, some wipes, and an outfit. Of course, for now- a big ole diaper bag is what goes everywhere with me- but I love the versatility of this bag. Plus, I can use it daily for work!

but annnyway- enough of me justifying my handbag purchase. How about this outfit? It's actually an exact replica of what I wore on the day we baptized the little guy! I got this dress for a song on clearance and I loved the ruffle details on it. Believe it or not- my mom suggested I wear my leopard print pumps and belt with it and that's how this outfit was born. I actually love the fit of the dress and how it pairs well with the leopard print and camel sweater.

Who knew my mom had a great outfit idea in mind? Now if I can only get her to let go of a polo shirt she's been wearing for 15+ years....

Like an Onion, I have a lot of Layers

Since the weather starts out pretty chilly in the mornings and warm up by the afternoon, I've been having to dress in lots of layers. It starts out in the 30's and by lunchtime, it's 60 degrees out! (For those of you up north, I'm sure you're all saying "boohoo we don't feel sorry for you- ;) )

Since I have a preference for wearing dresses and skirts, I opted for the former and styled it like a skirt. When I was done getting dressed, I was full of layers. Dress, Cardi, Boots, Tights- Blazer- all of these layers plus added accessories equal a perfectly warm outfit that would rival any pair of pants. I did spend at least 5 precious minutes of my time this morning waffling between cognac boots and black boots though- I don't know why I was having so much trouble making up my mind. I blame allergies and being tired though!

When I was about to leave, I realized I should probably also add a scarf to my neck- and I wound up wearing the scarf with intent to take it off as I had a necklace on underneath. But I decided to keep it on for 1/2 the day anyhow. I love how the mustard color complimented the teal tones in the blazer the cardigan.

Turns out, the necklace I am wearing has mustard in it, too. I didn't even pay attention to that until after I had taken off my scarf. I just wanted a fun pop of color and it turns out I was on the right track! Wheee!

Alrighty y'all. I'm out. I have a cute little monkey I'm dying to cuddle with in front of the fire!

Sweater as Vest

I had a heck of a time getting dressed this morning. I pretty much grabbed a few random things and threw them together- I really wanted to wear a sweater vest with this top- but the one I have was a bit on the BO-RING side so I decided to drop some color in with this red short sleeve number and pretend it was a vest. My original plan was to keep my black blazer on to keep the illusion going, but I got hot and annoyed with the blazer so I took it off and went like this instead.

Not my greatest look, but hey, it works and it's comfortable. Oh, and that skirt- I bought it as an "interim" item for my post- pregnancy wardrobe... and now it's TOO BIG. That's right, y'all! I'm almost back into my pre-pregnancy size for the most part and I only have about 6 pounds left to go.

I do, however, still have trouble fitting into some tops... but I'm working on that!

Ok, so today is Thanksgiving- and I'm really busy cleaning up house and making some side dishes while our turkey cooks in the Oil-Less Fryer (yes, you read that right- and it makes a dang good turkey!) so I'm going to be really brief and say this-

I'm thankful for the ability to blog, the freedom of speech to do so and lovely people like you who read it and have made me feel special to be a part of such a great community!

3 Months Old!

Today my little peanut turns 3 MONTHS OLD!

Time sure flies when you're raising a little one and working full time. He's certainly growing and learning so much about the world around him! As you can see- tummy time is starting to be beneficial, as he can hold his head up and start to pull up!

He's also eating 5 oz. of milk at each feeding and eating about 5-6 times a day and now weighs approximately 13 1/2 pounds and is about 24 inches long.

He's about to start wearing size 2 diapers and is in size 3-6 month clothes!Oh, and he now sleeps through the night- average is from about 9:30 at night till about 6:30-7 in the morning. Mom and Dad are very appreciative of this!

The best part, though, is hearing him coo, babble and squeal with delight as he talks to mom and dad, plays with the toys on his playmat, and smiles and giggles when we show him our love!

Lakefront Styling

A helpful hint- don't be silly like me and look at the sun when you are taking your outfit photo. For some reason, I kept wanting to face the sun, and in doing so, I have a crazy squinty face for my pictures. Ooops! oh well.

I built this whole outfit around this scarf. Have you ever done that? Built up a whole outfit around an accessory or a pair of shoes? My mom thinks I'm crazy to have done so, but I knew it would work with a lot of things in my closet when I bought it and I was right!

Also, I have a confession- this is one of my maternity skirts. It fits great, still, and it really still serves a purpose. I *think* it looks ok and I don't think you guys would know it was maternity unless I told ya... right? (I mean, I am all about honesty here, y'all!) But I love that it still works even after baby. I'm definitely getting a lot of wear out of this skirt that I paid $7 for at the consignment store.

Anyway- a semi-casual outfit for this short holiday week. Anyone else as excited as I am for the long weekend? I mean, you would swear I wasn't off for two months with the way I'm ready for the weekend! Goes to show you that maternity leave is far from a vacation! LOL

The Cutest Accessory Ever

Today, the little guy and I did a little shopping (mostly for him!) with Nanny & Grandma at the mall. I totally forgot HOW BUSY the mall gets this time of the year and it continues my plan to do most of my holiday shopping online because it was just crazy busy around that place! While my outfit was quite comfy and practical for the day of shopping- he was, by far, the best accessory a girl could ever ask for. :)

Fortunately, I was able to get myself a little something small and I got him some cute items from Gymboree (thank goodness for giftcards!) before we were both done with the mall. Good thing we went on our own and met my mom and sister out there because I don't think the little peanut and I could have hung out much longer than we did! This momma gets tired a lot easier these days!

This outfit is nothing special- but it worked for the day. I'm really posting this blog entry as an excuse to show off my cute kid. (oh, and YES, it was really warm enough outside for him to only be in a onesie once we got home-his mall outfit was really cute, but he was hot by the time we got home)

I feel sort of equestrian in this outfit. Or maybe I'm thinking classic preppy? Ralph Lauren-esque? I'm not sure- but I know all of the parts of this outfit come together to give off some sort of classic well off lady vibe. Maybe it's the scarf? I don't know, but I like it!
I also like making come hither faces in the camera when I do my outfit pics in the morning. (not really- I'm pretty sure I was trying to look straight into the lens and somehow made this silly face instead)

I have pinned several outfits on pinterest that include paisley/printed scarves with striped tees and blazers and so I had to create my own with the elements in my closet... including this super inexpensive striped tee I bought while I was still pregnant as a post-pregnant shirt, along with this scarf that I got thrifting last year. I've worn it on several occasions and I love the vintage prep look it adds to my outfits. I need to find more ways to style it!

oh, and I'm glad it's Friday. This momma is ready for some R&R and maybe watching a little Ryan Gosling in Crazy, Stupid, Love. (that is, if I can find it on rental at one of those outdoor kiosks!) Oh, and time to celebrate Mom's birthday with a nice Pho lunch tomorrow!

Today's outfit inspiration comes from my past.

I'll give you a hint.

Yes. I am really wearing my high school letter jacket in a picture from 3 years ago. I couldn't help it! My high school won the state championship in football back in 2008!

My high school colors are garnet & grey. (or maroon & grey- but garnet sounds so much better, doesn't it?) I always loved my high school's colors. Such nice colors and they went really well together. A nice neutral like grey and the warm, rich wine shade of garnet.... which is also a beautiful precious stone (and the birthstone of my dad!)

Originally, I had plans to wear this sweater with jeans tomorrow as my casual Friday look, but since the temps are already supposed to be back up into the upper 60's tomorrow, I figured it would be a waste of a good sweater day to wait until then. So I paired it with these grey trousers instead when I saw my letter jacket sitting in my closet... unused for the last 16 years.

Of course, then I looked down at the only Missoni for Target item I even remotely cared for- these flats, which I only bought on clearance because I'm ~~cheap~~ frugal and I loved the extra fun color pop they give!

I decided to "frost" my outfit with this necklace of pinkish shades and love way it all came together. While I am still getting used to the idea of wearing things so close to the body (thank the Lord for torsets!) I really like that I'm paying homage to my high school, even if I have been out of high school for over 16 years. (gosh, I just admitted how old I am!)

Miracle Dress

First of all, would you believe that this is the SAME DRESS I wore when I was pregnant? Seriously- this is the same dress I wore for the baby shower AND for my maternity pictures!

When I bought it, I totally bought it with intentions of probably wearing it after baby while I lost the rest of the baby weight. I just went ahead and bought this non-maternity maxi dress a size up with this plan. I figured it would be a nice, comfy option during and right after my pregnancy. What I didn't realize was how well it would still fit nearly 3 months later! I knew it would still cover up my imperfections and would be a nice interim dress and I even considered the option of it working through my months of maternity leave- but I certainly didn't expect it to still look like a good fit after that! The weight of the fabric is nice and the waist tie in the middle works well to cinch in the waist now that I no longer have my baby belly. This goes to show that when a gal is expecting, she doesn't have to always dress wearing only maternity clothes. Great items like this maxi dress are a godsend for an expectant/new mother! What a miracle dress!

(ps- this reminds me that I should probably write a post on my thoughts on maternity fashion)

When I was brainstorming how I could make it work for fall, I immediately remembered this blazer, which had been sitting in my closet, still in the drycleaning bag it had been in since December 27th, the day I found out I was pregnant. (Coincidentally, that was the day I picked it up from the cleaners!) I thought the tweedy look of the blazer paired with this maxi would be a fun take on winterizing the maxi... and then I figured adding a touch of rust to it would finish it off nicely!

I am realizing now that I probably can remix it many more ways with scarves, jackets, and boots throughout the fall/winter months. The weight of the dress is quite nice and it can be a cozy option if tights are worn underneath! Plus, the teal color works for all seasons!

Too bad I didn't wear more makeup, though. I'm discovering that due to my new schedule, I often look a little more tired than I should. HA!

Black & Tan with a Twist

I almost titled this post- Like my favorite beer- black & tan... but then that would be a lie- because I honestly don't like dark beers. In fact, I tried Guinness once and I gagged because it was so bitter tasting to me. I'm actually a fruity beer fan... give me a nice cold Blue Moon and I'm a happy gal!

But I digress. A few weeks before I came back to work, I went on a work wear shopping spree at JCPenney to stock up on some new items since much of my wardrobe didn't fit right anymore. Granted, some of my dresses fit, etc. but they were a little tight in certain places or I didn't feel right in them. So I went ahead and got a few items. This skirt was one of them I couldn't pass up. I love the silhouette of the skirt, especially since it is perfect for camouflaging my post pregnancy imperfections and I like how it swishes when I walk! The neutral polka dots, too, are a fun addition to it and I can't wait to try other remixes with it!

I decided to try red with it since I always liked the look of red with camel/tan as well as with black! I think it adds a nice pop of color and brightens up an otherwise neutral outfit!

Baby Bauble

A few days before I went into labor with Baby Bean, my husband gave me a gift- something I was totally not expecting- a Baby Bauble or "push present" if you will.

For most of my pregnancy, I had no idea such a thing existed- until one Sunday over the summer (I am pretty sure it was about a month before he was born) my friend told Scott about the idea of a "push present" and I laughed. I certainly didn't expect a gift for having the baby, so when Scott handed me a little black box the Friday night before Andrew was born, I burst into tears over what was inside. The box holds a pair of peridot earrings- both Andrew & Scott's birthstone (which I happen to love!) I have worn them pretty much every day since right before he was born. (Except for when he WAS born, since they made me take them off)

I had not shared this, but since they are a part of my everyday wardrobe now, I thought it was time to give a shout out on my blog. :) Even though they are green, in my eyes, they go with everything, too! :)

Other than that, nothing too exciting about this outfit. Sadly, no part of it was only twenty cents... but at least it was still under $100! The top is a recent score from Target clearance and I love this black ponte knit pants from JCP. I've already worn them 3 or 4 times. Super comfy and yet still look professional for work! I finish it all off with a cardigan for modesty (and comfort in case it's cold in the office) and a belt for some waist definition. Oh, and my BCBG pumps that are a great score from last fall (and holding up mighty well!) It's a shame my hair looks a mess, though. Must remedy that!

Twenty Cent Dress

Last night, we went to a wedding for our friends K&D- they had their reception in the Carousel Gardens at City Park! What was really cool was that we were able to ride the carousel as many times as we wanted! I had not been on a carousel since my niece was about 2 years old, so it was really fun to hop on and take a ride-- even if I did have to straddle the horse in my dress!

What was even more fun was that the dress cost me $.20. Yes, you are reading that correctly. $.20. Technically, I think it cost me $.34, but I got this dress and another dress for a total of $.40 last week, so I'm calling this my $.20 dress because that sounds so much better.

I love this dress- it's ponte knit (which is my best friend these days) and the color is super pretty. Plus, it's washable! YAY! I have a feeling this dress will be a workhorse in my wardrobe for the season. I will have brainstorm more ways to style it! I actually felt pretty in it and like it fit my postpartum body well!

Of course, when I got Hubs to take the picture, he cut off my feet, but you can sort of see my leopard print heels, right? :)

Oh well, it doesn't really matter... I mean, I got the dress for TWENTY CENTS! I mean, the whole outfit came together for under $30. I'm still amazed by that.

Up All Night

honestly, I wasn't up all night. In fact, it was my "turn" to take night duty and I was lucky enough that the little guy slept through the night! YAY!

My title actually refers to the cute new comedy on NBC. Does anyone else watch it? I remember first seeing the previews for the show when I was in the hospital right after Andrew's birth. As I held him in my arms, the commercial preview for it came on and Scott & I both looked at it and laughed because it was like NBC created the show just for us.

I always look forward to the show because it hits on so many of the little things that we are experiencing as first time parents (or on some things we have yet to experience) and it really makes us feel more "normal" in our new role as parents.

But that's not why I'm writing about this show! I'm actually writing about it because I've noticed on several occasions that the characters wear clothing from regular retailers like Old Navy and Target. On several occasions, I've seen something they are wearing, and I look over to Scott and say "I have that top!" or I can spot where it came from if I don't have it! The first time was when Maya Rudolph's assistant is shown wearing the orange & white Tucker for Target top that so many of us wardrobe bloggers got last year. Fortunately for me, mine still fits (yay!) so I was excited to see it on her!

Then, last night, after I had coincidentally laid out my clothes for today, we watched this week's dvr'ed episode of the show where I saw Maya Rudolph's character wear this exact shirt, just in the pink shade, for a casual "babysitting" outfit and I smiled because she was styled (by professional tv show wardrobe people!) the exact way I had planned to wear it- with a scarf, jeans, and flats. Made me feel like, maybe, sometimes I actually know what I'm doing! I also noticed in a scene, that the baby girl in the show was wearing a Missoni for Target beanie hat on her walk in the stroller and that also made me smile!

That being said, I really have to appreciate that a show like Up All Night is wardrobing the actors in accessible clothes that regular gals like me can find instead of putting the actors in top end designer clothes that are a pipe dream!

Anyway- I got this top at Old Navy a week ago on clearance along with the Friends & Family coupon that my friend Lynn passed on to me. I was so excited to grab the last one in this shade because we all know I love any and all shades of green, blue and teal. (I think I have sort of an addiction, actually!) This top is super comfy and I think it's flattering in light, Casual Friday sort of way. Jeans & flats complete this look for a very beautiful fall Friday afternoon. Here's to the weekend, y'all!

I have to say, it is good to get back to blogging and sharing outfits. Even if no one is really reading, I'm glad to be back- at least for myself.

Wardrobe blogging is something I love to do. I love coming up with new looks for old favorites and trying to motivate myself to look my best daily. This is definitely a big deal for me now as I'm trying to get back to those feelings, as lately, it's hard while I'm trying to regain my pre-pregnancy figure.

I am NOT loving how my point & shoot cameras are taking pictures, though- and as such, I am working on a deal with my husband to get him to take my outfit photos for me or to at least help me so I can feel better (and look better) in my daily outfit posts. I am thinking that is one of the first steps of getting back to my normal routine, along with eating well, and exercising- which I have been doing.

That being said, forgiving clothes are helping me as well. This skirt is one of those items of clothes that is VERY forgiving. I got this skirt at Old Navy with my 30% off friends & family coupon when I went to get Andrew some socks the other day. When I saw the fabric, the length, and the silhouette, I knew it would be a great skirt for this interim period of my strange new figure. I think it works well with this long sleeve sweater and I decided to pair this with a scarf again, since the weather is chilly today. (well, to our standards) Overall, I think I like it. I am just not loving my picture. I am thinking it's time to bring the big guns back out and start using my SLR again!

Oh, and you may see a funny little black dog in my picture... well, that's the newest member of our family, Maggie. We adopted her from a local shelter a month ago and she's been quite the entertainer in our house. It turns out she & Bean are the same age so it will be fun to watch them grow up together. :)

One thing has stayed constant for me- I LOVE this shade of green. I love that, still, after its re-emergence 2 years ago, it's still a popular color for the fall months.

Right before Baby Bean was born, I remember GiGi posting about this dress and the beautiful color and drape of it. When I went to Macy's to get some post-pregnancy clothes, I found this dress (the last one in my size, BTW!) and I had to have it. The fit is super comfy and it camouflages my post pregnancy pooch. Oh, and it's a BEAUTIFUL emerald green color. I am already trying to brainstorm more ways to wear this beautiful dress. I'm even wondering how it would look without the belt!

Since my scarf collection has been on a little vacation (the last thing I wanted to wear in the last months of my pregnancy was a scarf around my neck!) I added this fun scarf to add a little more interest to my outfit. (And to keep me a little warmer, since a cold front came through during the day) I like it and it is so fun to get back to wearing fall colors, clothes and boots again!

Five Dollar Dress

So I am back at work, and as such, I'm back to getting dressed for work instead of for "around the house!" Some days, I dress nice, others, I'm running on a little less sleep than others and I wear something totally uninspired and comfortable.

As a new mother, I'm struggling with a new postpartum body and wanting to return to my previous wardrobing ways. It's hard to feel good in your clothes when you're in a size up from your usual and you sometimes feel schlumpy and dumpy because of it.

Since most of my pre-pregnancy clothes don't fit their best (my chest, hips and belly are all a bit bigger now!) I had to go out and buy some intermediate clothes that will work in the interim until I get my old body back. I hear this effort can take a good while. So while I love to shop, I didn't want to spend a small fortune on my interim wardrobe! In fact, my main goal for this wardrobe is to not spend more than $20 on ANYTHING in it.

I've been sticking to that. In fact, I've scored quite a few deals. Thank goodness for coupons and sales! This dress is one of those scores. I stopped in at Macy's a few weeks ago during the One Day Sale armed with coupons and gift cards (i earn Macy's gift cards for taking surveys!). The first place I went was to the clearance racks. In fact, all I shop these days are clearance racks because I see no point in paying full price for much of anything! I came across multiples of this dress on the clearance rack marked down. I figured it probably didn't look good on, but I decided to give it a try. Well, for my postpartum figure, I thought it looked pretty decent and I figured I could wear it multiple ways through the fall/winter and into the spring. When it rang up as $5.29 after my coupons and all markdown discounts, I was ecstatic! I mean, what a SCORE! A dress for right over $5. A gal can't beat that!

Wearing a dress that is $5 almost makes me feel better about the way I look. ALMOST. I'm still trying to lose those last 15ish pounds!

Getting Back in the Swing of Things

It has been a long time since I've taken an outfit picture and attempted to share it here on the blog. Let's just say that having a baby and being on maternity leave didn't lend itself to being fashionable all the time. Now, I'm not saying I didn't get dressed daily while on maternity leave and/or I wore sweat pants all day, but getting dressed after baby is certainly not an easy feat.

I gained about 60ish pounds when I was pregnant, and while I am only about 12 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight, my body is DIFFERENT. My breasts are larger, my hips have spread a little more, and I have the "pregnancy pooch" which has put me in a different size clothes, and well, most of my pre pregnancy clothes just don't feel quite right. Things I wore with joy before leave me feeling a little more self conscious about the way I look I now.

I did wear a few outfits where I felt nice, but I was so busy tending to the little guy that I didn't take the time to take pictures to share. Raising a little person is hard work! Now I'm back to work and I'm hoping to start sharing outfits again. I won't be able to share as often as before, but I plan to start blogging a few outfits a week... those that I absolutely LOVE. I will admit, some days, I just grab whatever and get dressed without much thought because I'm tired from being on "night duty" but I hope to have a few days where I actually put thought into my outfits and feel spectacular in them. I want to get back to that feeling of wearing an outfit and feeling great in it!

I am hoping I didn't lose all of you blog friends along the way while I've been gone! I really should have found a guest blogger or two but I just didn't think I would be away that long! Oops!

In the meantime, though, I've been sharing some pretty cute pictures of the little fella. I hope you enjoy those!

Pregnancy Produce Project- 37 Weeks- Swiss Chard

Your baby is now considered full term, even though your due date is still three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. He weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long.

Well blog friends- not much longer... after a visit with the doctor today, I know that the bean is 6 pounds, 4 oz and he looked good on an ultrasound. We're all scheduled to deliver on August 27th, unless he has other plans! So that means I have 19 more days of being pregnant.

I'm glad all is well but I am also so ready to start wearing normal clothes again. The one thing I can look forward to is that he will be born right before the weather *should* start changing toward the cooler fall temps I love so much! I was cleaning up my closet yesterday and I was thinking about the fact that I won't be going to work for 2 months after he's born- which means I will probably not be dressing my best. I'm wondering if you guys will still want to see my outfits when I'm wearing jeans and a tee every day? I promise I'll try to make my outfits interesting. ;)

So friends, 19 more days until I meet Bean. I'm curious who he will look like more- we do know he has some hair-obviously just not how much or what color. I think the anticipation is the worst!

Pregnancy Produce Project- Week 36 - Crenshaw Melon

Home Stretch

I think one of hardest parts of pregnancy must be what I am in now- the home stretch... where you're thisclose to having your baby, your belly is quite large and awkward, and you feel like the last few weeks are taking forever. You just want to meet your baby, hold him/her in your arms and know that he/she is healthy and ok. I am definitely feeling all of this emotions, along with excitement!

That being said, getting dressed is becoming harder and harder and I pretty much wear the same things almost every day, which is why I haven't really been blogging outfits much. I mean, at some point you guys are going to get tired of seeing the teal maxi, my navy knit dress, and my tshirts and jean skirt/black skirt.

I realized this morning, though, that I have worn this top quite a few times, but I have not shared a photo of me wearing it. So I decided it would be a good day to wardrobe blog! I am at the point now where dressing comfortably wins out over being fashionable. I mean, it's 96 degrees out with a heat index of 110 and the humidity is super muggy. So I'm working with what I can!

I am also considering a post of my thoughts on maternity fashion- but I don't claim to be an expert... but I'm wondering- would any of you guys be interested in that?

Maternity Photos

You remember how I was talking about my friend Amy in my post about the Bean's nursery? She passed down all of her baby furniture to me and then created that beautiful banner for the shower (and his room) and pretty much did all of the decor for the baby shower?

Well, obviously, she's really creative! One of her creativity outlets is photography. She & both share a love of photography so it is only natural that we've shared our photography love by using each other for models. This time was my turn- and this past Saturday we got together for some maternity pictures before the weather got really nasty out! (we had already been rained out twice!) She has just recently taken on taking pictures for friends and family and started a Amy Cherie Photography where she can showcase her work.

I love this picture of us together.

I was so touched that she took on the task of our maternity photos and I am so incredibly in love with how they came out. She made me look so pretty although I certainly have not felt that beautiful in the last few weeks! I was certainly at ease for the whole session (not hard when you've been friends with the photographer for over 10 years!) and I feel so blessed to have someone who has been so generous and thoughtful during this whole pregnancy process. (Let's just say I call her pretty often when I have pregnancy/baby/child questions)I think the fact that she was taking our pictures also made Scott agree to a few photos with me! He did great as well. :) Oh, the things are husbands will do to make us happy when we are just about 9 months pregnant!

Back in the Saddle Again

The last few weeks have been such a whirlwind for me. First the baby shower, then July 4th and the loss of my sweet little pup, Scruffy. With Scruffy passing away, I had no desire to get dressed cutely every day because I was very sad. I got dressed everyday, but I didn't put much effort into my looks and I honestly did not want to smile for the camera.

As each day passes, it gets a little bit easier. We still miss the little guy, but we have gotten much comfort in knowing that he is now in heaven and enjoying all of the treats and play time he can muster.

In order to distract myself from the loss, I finished preparing for Baby Bean and I got his room all taken care of and I've now gotten the hospital bag packed and ready to go.

I am finally getting back to wanting to get dressed daily and sometimes, to share my outfits with you guys again. What's funny is that even maternity clothes are starting to fit tight around the belly and I'm starting to swell in the feet and ankles and cute shoes and sandals are not really an option anymore. From now on, it's mostly time for flip flops! So for the next few weeks, when I share my outfits, I hope you guys won't cringe at my huge belly, sausage feet, and lack of cute shoes. I'm doing my very best to look my best in these last few weeks of pregnancy. Only one month left to go!

That being said, this look is one of those efforts to look cute. The ruched tee paired with the denim a-line skirt is definitely becoming something I wear quite frequently since some shirts don't even cover my belly anymore! Plus, it's comfy. I accented with scarf to give it a little "oomph" - but otherwise nothing too exciting. Which is the story of my life these days. I'm starting to really miss my pre-pregnancy wardrobe, body, feet and shoes.

A Peek inside Baby Bean's Nursery

While I have been getting dressed lately, I haven't felt much like sharing my outfits because I am getting VERY big and VERY uncomfortable. But I thought it would be fun to share pictures of our little Bean's completed nursery!

We wanted to give the little guy a light, airy room in soothing colors so he would hopefully sleep well! We were fortunate to have good friends who passed on their baby furniture and several other nice items so that we didn't have to spend much to furnish his room. That left extra money to spend on some arts & crafts items for me to create his room decor, etc. We knew we wanted something related to fish, the beach, or the sea since we both love fishing and the beach! This is what we came up with!

A while ago, when we were in the adoption process, we had already thought that the MiGi Splash collection was adorable and that we wanted it for our child's room, whether it was a boy or girl. Of course, it was discontinued when I went to shop for bedding, but I managed to find a brand new set on ebay for a very fair price! I was so excited to get it in the mail and once I had that in place- the rest all came together!

We remodeled this room back in 2009, and fortunately, the color we chose for the wall back then matched everything near perfectly! That meant we did not need to repaint and all we really had to do was accessorize and organize the room! The only item of furniture we had to buy was a chest of drawers and we were able to obtain that from a national discount retail store for a little over $100. The height of the chest was perfect for his room and that allowed me to create a unique piece of artwork that was personalized just for him. I was inspired by all of the "subway rolls" that you see all over etsy and I thought it would be fun to do one with "boy words" instead of with places. I used Photoshop to create the image and I had it printed off at a local print shop on canvas for $17. (which is a BARGAIN!) I then had it stretched onto canvas for an additional $15. The cost of the whole thing was under $50, whereas I would have spent over $100 having it made someplace else! :) We also included pictures on his dresser of his late grandmother who passed away in 2009 (and who we think somehow had a hand in this pregnancy from up above) and of course, his big brother, Scruffy, who just recently passed away along with his own ultrasound picture. We consider both his Mamoo and Scruffy to be his guardian angels and his room wouldn't be complete without them looking over him!

When it came to his crib- that was passed on to me by my dear friend Amy. It was her daughter's crib and I was happy to accept it, especially since it went so well with the room already! Once I had the MiGi Splash bedding on it, I was in love. It took a while for me to figure out what to put over his crib... I kept thinking, decal? framed photos? canvas? When it came time for my baby shower, I saw that my friend Amy made me this beautiful banner with his name and I immediately knew it was perfect for over the crib. It's made from heavy card stock and she hand made and designed it all herself! We also wanted to include pictures of ourselves as little ones and some other fun unique pieces that we thought would suit him. That included his first "skim board" which he will eventually use when he's old enough at the beach!

We finished off his room with "bubbles" above his changing table (a tip I got from the blog Young House Love so that he would have a distraction to look at while I changed his diaper. The paper lanterns were super inexpensive and fit the bill perfectly. I found them at a craft website online for less than $3 each. Lastly, the glider and ottoman were once a country blue color and it went with the room ok, but I wanted to make it uniquely ours since it was another gift passed on by my friend Amy. So my mom & I got some fabric at Joann's a while ago and worked together to recover the cushions and make it my own. The total cost of the fabric and supplies was $21! The pillow on the chair was made from a valence that came with the bedding that we cut and shaped into a pillow and stuffed with a $5 bag of poly fill. I think the whole thing came together well and I'm already loving sitting in that glider and reading some of the many books (gifted to me by my big sister) to Andrew already.

Finishing touches include the modern ceramic lamp (Target- $22), the blue basket of books and toys with the stuffed panda (all gifted- my sorority mascot is a panda, so room would not be complete without it!), a fishing silhouette print gotten from etsy, along with Andrew's first fishing pole, which is mounted on the wall next to the other window. All of the little touches around his room are unique to us and will hopefully grow with him over the years!

I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into the little guy's nursery! :) I think it has taken on a touch of my style along with some classic looks for my little guy's space.

Pregnancy Produce Project: 34 weeks- Canteloupe

I have had this madras jacket for at least 3 (maybe 4!) years now and I fall in love with it over & over every summer. It was a workhorse in my wardrobe last summer and I got a lot of wear out of it! I bought it with my annual birthday gift card from my IL's back in 2008 and I have truly gotten their money's worth out of it, that's for sure!

I had almost forgotten about it since my maternity closet isn't as full as my regular closet usually is, and there is was, and I knew exactly how I wanted to wear it this week.... and this outfit was born.

I decided to wear this fuschia dress I got with it to bring out the small stripes in the jacket and I think that this shade of fuschia works so well with all of the different shades of blue and silver throughout the jacket and necklace. I have to say, I really like it! Plus, the jacket is light enough that I'm not sweating like crazy in this stifling summer heat. :)

Pregnancy Produce Project: 31 Weeks- 4 Navel Oranges

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

After the shower this weekend, the third trimester tiredness is catching up with me. I'm finding myself becoming winded and tired more easily than before and I can feel my belly growing more and more daily. I suppose that means a growth spurt indeed!

I originally planned to do this produce post wearing a navy dress and using the orange as a contrast color- but then I remember I had my tropical maxi and I figured orange would be a fun contrast with it as well. I think it works!

A Shower for Baby Bean

So I know I've mentioned in the last week or two that this past weekend was my baby shower! I have to say, I was so excited when I walked into the shower and saw all of the cute little details my sister and friends put into the shower they did for me! Everything was just perfect and I loved all of it! I was so honored that so many of my family members drove down from out of town as well as some friends who came as well to celebrate my little miracle's coming arrival!


We thought it would be fun to include some of our pictures from childhood.

I know I finally gave y'all a peek into the nursery- it was all inspired by the MiGi line called "Splash" which has been discontinued for about a year. Fortunately, I was able to get my hands on the nursery bedding and my sister and friends used that as inspiration for the shower theme - which includes fish & bubbles!

Some of you have asked what his name will be- well, there ya go!

The nursery certainly fits our family well as we are into going fishing and of course, to the beach! Everything from the shower was just so beautiful and Baby Bean is definitely well prepared for his entrance into the world! Everyone was just so generous and thoughtful and it meant so much to me!

I even had a cameo appearance from another wardrobe blogger, Sarah from Destrehan's Daughter which was such a nice surprise! She was sporting a very cute Anthro skirt that I'm jealous of as well as a pair of LOFT wedges I coveted when I first saw them on her last summer. It was so good to see her!

As you can see, I had a good time opening all of his gifts and was super excited to see so many of my friends and family there. It just made my heart so full of joy to celebrate my little miracle with so many people who, like me, are anxious for his arrival. I know one thing, he will be one well dressed little dude between the clothes we received at the shower AND the wonderful passed down wardrobe I've gotten from friends with little boys!

My Big Sister!

I hope you don't mind me sharing photos from the shower with you- I know, totally not wardrobe related, but I am dressed in a dress that I am in love with! (and I got a ton of compliments on as well!) I decided to keep the accessories simple since the neckline of the dress is so flattering and I just wound up wearing earrings that complimented the colors of the shower instead of a large contrast. It turned out that many of my friends who were throwing the shower did the same and wore blue & green inspired clothes, too. I thought that was fun!

Fun Stuff on Friday

ahhhh so it is Friday! YAY! I have so many fun things to share with y'all!

First of all- my shower is this weekend! Wheee! I think I have my outfit pretty narrowed down. YOu'll have to wait to see, though! I am so excited to see family and friends I have not seen in a long time and have a good visit and some yummy food and stuff! :)

Some of you guys have asked me if I have started the nursery yet and if so, what it looks like, etc. The nursery is not completely done, but it is a work in progress. I was going to wait until it was 100% complete to share it with y'all, but I figured a quick little sneak peek would be ok. So here you go!

Hmmmm what else? Oh! This dress is 100% non-maternity as you can see HERE! Somehow, amazingly, this dress fits my 30 week & 4 day pregnant belly. It's a miracle, I say! Plus, it's super hot and this dress is super comfy. I'll take it!

oh, and yeah- most obviously. My hair- I got it cut yesterday. I was over the bob thing. I went back short as I wanted something low maintenance (and that makes my face look thinner) for the coming months. I like it!

Maxi Dress as Skirt

One of the things I miss most since becoming pregnant is the ability to layer items. Since I'm hugely pregnant during the middle of the summer, it's pretty much impossible to layer anything.

That is, until I got this black maxi dress! I ordered this from Kohls.com since they were having a sale the other day. I have been trying to find a black maxi for a while now so when I saw this one, I jumped on it! What I love about it is that I should be able to wear it once baby is here and possibly next summer as well. As you can see, it's not as long as it *should* be because of my burgeoning belly, but that's ok! Since the maxi dress has spaghetti straps on it for regular wear, I thought it inappropriate for the office- but once I added this sheer top, it works (or at least I think it does) layered. I can tell you I have been very comfortable all day, that's for sure! I also hope to use this maternity blouse after baby arrives as well- in a non-maternity fashion. I was thinking possibly with skinny jeans (if I can wear them) or leggings as a tunic? What are your thoughts on wearing maternity fashions in new ways once baby arrives?

I decided to brighten up all of the black in the outfit with a few pink accessories- including this necklace I scored on ultra clearance at the mall in Biloxi this past weekend. When I was checking out on Saturday, the sales associate told me- hey, your earrings (that I was wearing at the time) match this necklace you are buying! Ha! What are the odds? Anyway- I think the pink plays well off the black and overall, I'm happy with this outfit.

Now, if I can only get comfortable in my office chair, then I'd really be a happy gal.

oh, and please disregard that horrible mop on my head. Thank goodness I'm getting my hair cut today. When I say I'm getting my hair cut, I'm hoping to change my look a little bit in some way. I'm just over this do that I'm sporting these days!

Have I mentioned Pinterest to y'all yet? If not, I'm obsessed with it. Finally, I can store all of my favorite blogger looks all in one place and refer to them for inspiration when I am pulling outfits together.

Such is the case with today's outfit, which was inspired by the blogger Apples and Pencil Skirts.

I saw this look on her about a week or so ago and pinned it on my outfit board with intent to wear it over the weekend when we went to Biloxi. I had grand plans to take my outfit pic on the beach or along a boardwalk- but I wound up taking a nap instead (hey, what can I say?) So instead I saved the look for work today and it was quite comfy for my daily outfit. Plus, I figured I'd be better served doing an outfit post on the beach/boardwalk when I'm not 8 months pregnant with swollen ankles.

But onto the outfit. I love the classic silhouettes and look and the hat is my favorite touch. Sadly, I didn't need it much today, but I like it with the outfit. I added my own little touch with the scarf as I wanted to still add a little nautical flair to it.

Pregnancy Produce Project- 30 weeks- Cabbage

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision – which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

I have to say, I certainly am starting to feel like I have a large cabbage in my abdomen. While I feel ok overall, I am starting to suffer from swollen ankles in the afternoons, back pain and getting tired very easily as a result of carrying around quite a bit of extra weight around my midsection!

That being said, I wouldn't trade it for the world. In the morning, when I wake up, I often can put my hand on my stomach and feel my little guy wiggling around and kicking and it brings a smile to my face that my own little person is in there, and I am really looking forward to the day when I can meet him.

On to my outfit- I ordered this dress from JCPenney.com from the Duo maternity line. I figured this hot pink-magenta color would be fun to wear for the rest of the summer and since I'm in the last two months of my pregnancy, anything I can wear that is lightweight and comfortable is #1 in my book. This dress fit the bill. Plus- a secret from me to you- I *think* I'll be able to wear it after the fact as well as it seems like it may fit pretty well. I guess we'll see. If not, no big deal as my best friend just informed me the other day that she is now expecting another little one! I am so excited for her and now I can loan some clothes to her for a spell!

Long Overdue: CSN Stores Review

A WHILE ago, right after I announced to you guys I was expecting, I got contacted by CSN Stores to do another review for them. I usually shop at their shoe division, but since I knew I wouldn't be wearing lots of cute, stylish pumps and such for a while, I decided to purchase something from their baby & kids division, which includes everything from baby clothes, gear, strollers and even nursery furniture! In fact, you can even register on their site!

I had $75 to spend so I wanted to make it count and get something that I knew I could use. I consulted some friends of mine that are already mothers to see what would be a good use of my available funds from their stores. One thing that several moms suggested to me was the Maclaren Easy Traveller which is a stroller frame that can fit an infant car seat in it rather than using one of those large, bulky travel systems. Immediately, when I saw the concept, I was SOLD. Of course, I had a ways to go before I could actually use it, but I decided to purchase it and put it away until it was time! Plus, I had plans to register for a regular Maclaren stroller as well since they are so popular and highly regarded as durable yet light and will stand the test of time.

I ordered this item on a Wednesday, and I had it in my hands the very next day! Shipping was free as well, so that was quite a benefit! CSN Stores have the greatest customer service and quick, inexpensive shipping. You really can't be a combination like that!

Well, I received the Easy Traveller so quickly as to just store it away in the closet of baby's room until I could get an infant seat so that I could try it out. Since this is my first baby, I wasn't sure when that would be.

Fortunately, I've been very lucky and so many of my friends & family have stepped up and loaned me their best baby items, and just recently, my SIL passed on her Graco Snugride Infant Car Seat and base, which is 100% compatible with the Maclaren Easy Traveller. In fact, I am pretty sure almost all infant car seats work with this awesome stroller frame.

As soon as I got the infant seat, I couldn't wait to give it a whirl with the frame. At first, when I looked at the stroller frame all folded up, I sort of panicked because it looked really complicated. But once I gave it a closer look, it was so easy! I just pulled the tab lock on the side, pulled it up and locked it in place. Then, all I had to do was put my Graco SnugRide infant seat in it, facing me, lock the security strap in place, and Voila! it was done- and very strong and well constructed. To break it down, you simply take the infant seat out, pop up on the frame and it automatically folds into place. So easy and SO LIGHT and easy to put in & out of the trunk of my car- which is an Acura TSX. It didn't take 15 minutes to get the seat situated and it is so easy to assemble.

When it comes to rolling around, it "drives" really well on concrete and grass and the wheels are very well aligned. I think the thing I like most about it, though, is that the handles come up to my waist, which is one thing I was really concerned about as many strollers/travel systems seem to be made for smaller people and I always felt like I was bending over them instead of being comfortable pushing it around. This Maclaren Easy Traveller is just the right height for me at 5'9".

I am so thankful that CSN Stores gave me this opportunity to do this review and obtain such a great quality item that will serve us and our new baby well in the coming months. I highly recommend shopping through them and all of their stores if you ever have the opportunity. They have such a great selection of high quality items with competitive prices AND free (or very inexpensive) shipping!

Celebrity Inspired

Last week, as I was surfing through my Google Reader (which, at the time had like 800 unread items- that will teach me to go a week without reading!) and I came across this picture of Rachel Bilson that several bloggers had clipped for inspiration. I decided to pin it in my pinterest (are you on pinterest? if so, we should be pinterest friends!) and made plans to try and do my own take on the blazer/maxi combo.

I immediately knew that my tropical print maxi would be best matched to one of my blazers and the outfit idea was cataloged in my head for another day! I figured today would be as good a day as any to try it out, since it's not like it's going to cool off outside anytime soon anyhow.

I will admit, the prospect of pairing a blazer (which is so structured) with something as flowy and free as a maxi dress almost seemed WRONG in a way, but once I put the outfit on and saw how the blazer gave my growing belly a bit of a waist-nip I was on board. These days, anything to give me a slight figure reminiscent of my pre-pregnancy days is most welcome. I think the navy blazer plays well off the the blues in the dress and overall, it worked!

I topped it off with some teal accessories, and poof! outfit complete! Tell me, have you ever been inspired by a celebrity outfit and built your own version? I have recently cataloged at least 40 or so "inspiration outfits" on my pinterest page and I think I may start using those as reference points because I keep getting myself in a rut. Favorite Color Combination

I am pretty sure the prepster in me is why I feel like this is one of my most favorite color combinations. This morning, as I got dressed, I had four different cardis to pair with this and I kept coming back to the kelly green. I had hot pink, blue green, this one, and yellow and I couldn't help but pick this one. Scott chose the yellow, he said the dog chose the blue-green. Go figure, I pick out the green.

I don't know why I love this color combination but it just feels so right to me. Plus, it reminds me of our vacation to Boston last summer where I gorged myself on lobster almost every day.

In other news- we went to our first prenatal class last night. Wow, was that interesting! Especially after seeing a video of a woman giving birth naturally, with no epidural or anything. WOW! We also took a tour of the L&D area and nursery. They were very busy last night... I'm thinking because it was a full moon? One of the things that the nurse/teacher mentioned was that it may be a good time to start packing a bag! So my question for those of you who have had a baby already- any suggestions on what to pack?

Pregnancy Produce Project: Butternut Squash

Your baby is growing rapidly now. This week he weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain – which is busy developing billions of neurons. Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby's skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester.

It is crazy to believe that I have something the size of a butternut squash growing in my belly. It is so amazing to me what the human body can do! Apparently, from this point on, baby will be growing pretty quickly and my belly will be expanding even more!

I was excited to dress for this week, too, as I adore this coral dress... and I recently got this "sea life" inspired necklace and I thought it was a perfect match for this dress. It definitely fits my personality and sort of gives you a hint as to what Baby's nursery looks like. I've had a few of you email me and ask me what the theme is, etc. I have a few pictures I've taken I could share, but I'm going to wait until after my shower for you to see the whole thing! The necklace only gives a tiny hint, though. :)

I am really starting to have fun preparing for baby and I am also excited to report that because of the generosity of some of my friends, my son is going to be one well dressed little fella! Not only did we get a ton of hand me down clothes from my friends who had little boys, but my friends also threw me a "sprinkle"

ARTists for Arthritis

My painting when complete!

I know that in the past, I've mentioned that I'm a sorority girl. I am somewhat active (less now that I'm pregnant, but still active) in my local alumnae chapter. One of the things I take pride in is planning fun events and fundraisers. I pretty much chaired/planned our most recent big fundraiser, ARTists for Arthritis and we co-sponsored it with a local business, Corks N' Canvas which is a really neat place where you pay a flat fee, bring some snacks and a teacher will walk you through how to do your own painting on 16x20 canvas. It's SO MUCH FUN and this was my 6th time doing it. I should probably take a picture of my "art gallery" in my office so y'all could see all of my works of art!


Mom & Me

We partnered with Corks N' Canvas for this fundraiser where 50% of the proceeds from the event goes to the AOII Foundation, which funds research for the Arthritis Foundation and the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization. Arthritis is a disease that affects millions of people, mostly women, (including me!) so I was proud to be a part of this event.

When we were all done, of course, members of my chapter got together for a picture- but we managed to have a pretty decent turnout of friends, family and other people who came out to support the cause and we are so thankful to everyone who participated!

Almost Paradise

When I bought this dress the first thing that popped into my head was- that looks like something I should be wearing at a fancy resort in some tropical paradise.

Instead, I'll just pretend and drink a frothy faux cocktail on my porch swing and pretend my backyard is my tropical paradise. Heck, the weather is pretty close to it!

I got this dress a while ago at NY&CO and got the last one in XL in hopes that it would fit in my third trimester. I held onto it thinking I would save it for a while and I'm glad I did. Where I am fascinated by my Garden....

You may be wondering why I would be looking so intently at my mini vegetable garden in this picture.

Well, first of all, I am amazed by the sheer amount the cucumber plant has grown (and has begun to produce) within the course of a week or two.

And then I'm imagining the ginormous pasta salad I'm going to make with the tomatoes and cucumbers I pick from it for dinner tonight.

Because, when you're pregnant, for some reason, you're hungry. All. the. time. At least I am craving fresh veggies, which is a good thing!

I also lately have been cravings to wear maxi dresses almost every day. They are so simple for me to throw on and the best part is that I am not super conscious about the way I am sitting. Oh, and that wearing a maxi dress feels like I am wearing a nightgown.Oh, and even better- most of the maxi dresses I have to wear are not maternity and I just sized up to accomodate my growing bump. That makes me happy too!

Pregnancy Produce Project: Napa Cabbage

28 weeks: Baby is the size of a Chinese cabbage. Your baby is equal in weight to a Chinese cabbage -- about 2 1/4 pounds. (Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel.)

I made 28 weeks yesterday! I didn't get a chance to take my pictures yesterday either, since we FINALLY got rain in the evening! I was so excited to see rain and my mini vegetable garden is so thankful! (as am I because I am getting some tomatoes and cucumbers coming in!) But anyway- I made 28 weeks and took my glucose test. All is good on that front. Baby is right on target, too! :)

I was also excited because the other day I stopped into the consignment store to get credit on some maternity clothes that I've already grown out of (yes, I have GROWN OUT of some maternity stuff) With that credit I was able to score this super comfortable dress. I just love the raspberry color, too! I thought it would make a nice contrast against the cabbage since I've pretty much exhausted most of the green in my wardrobe with many of the veggies we've had already! I already have plans for how I will wear it again so don't be surprised if you see it again really soon!

Sea Breeze

Pregnancy Produce Project: Cauliflower

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers.

This week, we get to take our produce pics at the very beautiful beach in Destin, Florida! We got these pics right at sunset during the "golden hour" and I couldn't have been happier! Baby is still growing (and I can feel it in my belly because my skin starts feeling like it's stretching!) and this week he's the weight of a cauliflower. Which, actually is about right as last week, I had an ultrasound and the estimated weight was 2 pounds, 2 ounces!

Since I've already worn quite a bit of green when doing my produce pics, I decided to wear a color that would just let the cauliflower stand out! I have worn this navy dress quite a few times (in fact, I would have to say it's been one of my smartest maternity buys that I have gotten my money's worth from!) and I just accented it with neutral jewelry and shoes (which you can't see here because I took them off to walk in the sand)

By the way- walking through (or trudging, I should say) the sand when pregnant is a workout in and of itself. Seriously! I was exhausted after this!

Another Great Beach Trip Down!

I am sad this is our last night at the beach, but we can't stay forever. Tonight, we headed to our fave restaurant here on the beach for a big ole tray of crab legs. After, we took a walk along the beach and watched the kids run around and play around us. That was when it dawned on us that next year, we will have our own little guy!

We had a great trip- we spent a lot of time by the pool, on the beach, and just enjoying each other's company. I have come back from the trip relaxed and happy. That beautiful sand & water will do that for you!

(PS you may also notice that in my full length shot, my face is all mottled up- I'll be honest, I photoshopped my scratches in the close up pic!) I bumped my face and knee and they got a few little scrapes. But I'm fine!

Movie Break

Today we took a break from the beach for a bit and went out to see Hangover 2

What a riot that was! it was nice to get dressed in regular clothes- although we did wind up back in our suits and by the beach later on in the afternoon! ;)

As expected, the movie did not disappoint and this outfit was perfect for a quick lunch out and then a stop to see a good summer movie. I am finding that all I want to wear these days are shorts and dresses because it's so hot outside and I get hot easily. These shorts are definitely in my pile of new "favorite" items.

Babymoon at the Beach

I had not mentioned it before all that much, but the hubster and I took an extra long weekend jaunt to the beautiful beaches of NW Florida for a "babymoon" of sorts to have our last vacation before our little bundle arrives. The beaches up there are some of the most beautiful and the sand is so soft, like powder, between your toes!

Pregnancy Produce Project: Cucumber

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

Ahh my little cucumber, how cute are you? You keep moving in my belly and while my back hurts, I still adore you more than you can imagine. Your dad and I are still marveling at the miracle that is you!

As for me, the dog days of summer are officially here and it is HOT outside. I have a feeling I will be spending a lot of time in my swimming pool and/or inside withing the air conditioning. Being pregnant and HOT are not a good combination. When I was trying to find an outfit to go with this week's veggie- I looked through my chest and found this tank I bought over Easter break in anticipation of the summer. It's very light and comfy and looks really cute with shorts. I almost returned it (because of the bra factor) but decided to keep it and wear it with cardigans. I think it compliments my little cuke well. ;)

It was quite chilly this morning! That meant I needed to wear pants to work, which was fine with me because for some reason, I was starting to get tired of wearing dresses.

I wanted to wear my red top (last time I wore it, you guys showered me with great comments, and it made me feel good- hey, at least I'm honest!) I figured I'd give these tweedy trousers I got when I first found out I was pregnant another whirl. I've worn their brown counterparts already a few times, but I hadn't worn these on the blog yet.

I have to say, some maternity pants are SUPER comfy. These are one of those pairs. They stay up, don't slip down, and they hug my belly just right and look pretty decent.

I have other pairs of maternity pants that STILL fall down all day, despite the giant full microfiber panel and such. My guess is that since I have a flat butt, I can't fill out the pants in the back and just the front!

I decided to just wear this basic, classic look which served me well all day. Plus, I love the shade of red!

So today I had my monthly checkup with my doctor. All is looking good! I wanted to look nice today. I figured, hey, I'm going to the doctor, so why not try to look cute?

Of course, I'm also finding that getting dressed is becoming more and more frustrating for me because I feel like I look HUGE and I'm only 6 months pregnant. I'm sure I'm being overly critical, but I can't help but look at myself and think WOW! (plus, I've gained a fair bit of weight!) Fortunately, some of my pre-pregnancy clothes miraculously still fit.

Pregnancy Produce Project: Eggplant

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average eggplant, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Things are just moving along with baby's development! I'm now 25 weeks and I am *almost* into the third trimester AND the hottest time of the year!

I am in love with this little person inside, though. I never knew I could be filled with as much love as I have right now. Every night I lay still in bed, just waiting for those little taps and kicks from my little guy. Also, can you see the pretty charm bracelet that Scott, Baby Bean, and Scruffy got me for Mother's day? I am so beside myself that I am actually about to become a mother. I get reminded daily with those little taps and kicks.

Of course, my body is REALLY starting to change now and the belly is incredibly prominent and proving to be a bit interesting when it comes to getting dressed. Thank goodness for ruched maternity tees and maternity bottoms! If you have been down this road, do you have any more tips for the upcoming third trimester?

Just Beachy

For the longest time, I had a huge mental block about wearing a maxi dress to work. I refused to as I thought it was inappropriate and more meant for wearing to the beach or during the summer. Then I got pregnant and found that sometimes, comfort is more important than a self-imposed ban on certain types of outfits.

It turns out this maxi dress that I scored on consignment for $10 has been one of the best maternity investments I've ever made. This is probably my 6th or 7th time wearing it (i like to wear it on the weekends to run errands, go out to dinner, etc) and today I decided to give work-wear a whirl.

Fortunately, since I have a bit of freedom when it comes to my dress code, I just paired it with a basic cardigan and some flat sandals. I have been so incredibly comfy all day and the best part is that I didn't have to "check myself" or the way I was sitting because I was concerned about my dress creeping up. Also, I decided to try a fun color contrast and paired orange accessories (my sandals are orange, too, but you can't see them!) to give it a little "oomph." I really like the orange with this. So fun!

Scott told me I looked like I was going to the beach, though, this morning, and I smiled because soon enough, I will be digging my toes into that luxurious white sand on the NW coast of Florida. I can't wait. I foresee lots of time on the beach reading, poolside naps, sunset beach walks, crab legs, pina coladas (don't worry, they will be alcohol free!) and cuddle time with my guys.

Until then, I'll just have to wear my maxi dress and pretend. ;)

Everybody Everywear: FLORALS

I am making this goofy face because I'm so excited I finally remembered an Everybody Everywhere Challenge!

The last few times, I read about them and then forgot what the participation date was and totally flaked. This time- I am so excited that I remembered this morning and subsequently knew exactly what dress I could wear for the challenge.

You have all seen this dress a few times already- I've worn it with tan wedges, red sandals, and now tan sandals. Deep down, I really want to pair it with cowboy boots- but I have to find a "casual" day where I'm not at work to pull that off, as I don't really work in an office environment where that would go over all that well! (i mean, I COULD wear them, but I'm sure I'd get messed with all day long!)

I adore this dress and it's super comfy for a very warm (or HOT) day. It's pushing 90 outside here today. I think summer is pretty much officially here. Pretty soon, I will be spending afternoons in my swimming pool!

Pregnancy Produce Project- 24 Weeks- Feeling Corny on Mother's Day

First of all- Happy Mother's Day to all mom's to both kids and fur-kids! It was kind of strange for me today since I know this is my last year of being a mom just to my dog, Scruffy- as next year, I'll be a mom to my own little guy.

This week, baby is the size of an ear of corn!
24 weeks: Baby is the size of an ear of corn. Your baby has caught up with an ear of corn in size and gained about 1/4 pound since last week. (Length: almost a foot.)

I will say that I think this baby is growing much faster now because I can feel my belly skin fighting to stretch out more and his movements are definitely becoming more and more pronounced! I will say that he likes grapes and ice cream, as when I eat either, he starts wiggling around in there like a little party animal!

So I'm 24 weeks now- only a few more weeks until I am in the third trimester. I can't believe I'm almost to that point! Fun things are in the works now- too- like a baby shower, a trip to my favorite beach, and another trip to Biloxi for the weekend- plus a trip to the beach with my girlfriends, too. I'm not sure how I'll feel about being big and pregnant at the beach, but I guess we'll see.

I am also excited this Mother's Day because my hydrangea bush came back to life after a cold winter and is blooming like CRAZY! I was able to cut some blooms off it to make myself a bouquet! So pretty. :) I love hydrangeas!

I think it has been pretty well established that my favorite color is blue. I love all shades, but cobalt blue is my ultimate favorite.

I had a gift card to Kohl's to use and so I immediately went online to search their maternity offerings and I had to buy this dress as 1) it was made of modal cotton and 2) it was my favorite color. I knew it would be a sure winner for the next few months to get me through the hot summer.

And I was right. I LOVE this dress. I've had it for two weeks and I'm not sure why I've waited so long to wear it. It's super light, comfy (like wearing a nightgown!) and it's my favorite color!

Today I decided to go mostly monochromatic, but in the future I can see myself pairing this dress with yellow, green, red, and many other fun shades! Plus, I guess since it is my favorite color- I feel pretty in it!

I guess since I felt so pretty in it, I felt the need to take an extra picture today. I just love these colors! I also thought it may be fun to mention that today marks 12 years since my hubster and I went on our first date! Also, coincidentally, I was going through old blog posts and I remembered that last year, on Cinco de Mayo, I wore cobalt blue as well! I wonder if it's a subconscious thing?

I'm sure tonight we'll be taking it easy as I'm in no shape to go to a fun Cinco de Mayo concert. Perhaps we'll have some yummy eats at home? Are you doing anything fun?

So that cold front that I talked about? well, it stuck around for this morning too! I wound up having to turn the bathroom heater on when I took my morning shower because it was quite chilly in my bathroom!

Fortunately, I have two pairs of full length maternity pants that I scored on clearance when I discovered I was pregnant and all of my pants started to feel too tight. I have only worn them a handful of times- yesterday was one more time I could add to the mix. I'm thinking I should probably try to wear them a few more times soon before it gets unbearably hot- so we'll see.

I decided I wanted to pair them with this cardigan that I scored at Target on clearance for $16.08. I was going to wait until the sale got even cheaper, but I have loved this sweater since it first came out and decided to splurge and buy it, along with another sweater, now. I couldn't help myself.

I was going to pair these items with a cami, but the cami I planned to wear is too tight now and didn't cover the "belly panel" on my trousers so i flipped through and I found this maternity top I scored at a thrift store a while ago! I had yet to wear it so yesterday was the perfect chance.

While it fits now, I can tell my wearability on this cotton top is coming to a close. My chest is getting too big for it and it's starting to creep up and this just barely covered my belly. But it looked cute yesterday and since I got the top for the bargain price of $1.50, no big deal. Anyone need a size L pink maternity top? LOL

I am starting to discover that my belly seems to be growing daily as I feel my little guy wiggle around in there... and I already feel like I look big- so I can't imagine what my belly will look like as growth continues! Thank goodness for cute summer dresses!

This dress is one of the first items I bought when I found out I was pregnant- it was on Target.com in the maternity section on clearance and I knew I could get a lot of wear out of it for the bargain price of $6.98 that I scored it for!

(btw- do you read Taylor's blog It's my Cardi ? The reason I ask is because she mentioned at her blog the other day how proud she is to announce to people how cheap she got her outfits... much like me! She's a riot- so if you don't already read her blog, check her out!

Anyway- I love this dress but I am in a rut when it comes to wearing it. I ALWAYS wear it the same- with an aqua cardigan and red sandals. Do you have any ideas of other ways I can style it? Other colors that would look fun with it?

In other news, I put this dress/sweater/sandal combo on even though the weather lady said that a cold front was coming through. I was like- surely the cold front isn't going to be THAT cold since it's May, after all?

Oops. The temps got down to 59 (which for people in Louisiana is a bit chilly) Good thing I work indoors! I do love the breeze and how it gave me "model" hair, though. ;)

Smug Mug

I have no idea why I'm making such a smug face in my profile shot. My husband didn't tell me I looked smug when he took the picture- the only thing I can think of is that HE said something smug while he took the picture where this was the facial reaction.

I know I've mentioned it before- but I love this dress. I still can't believe I'm wearing it almost 6 months into my pregnancy! Talk about getting a value. I would imagine the CPW (cost per wear) on this dress is somewhere under a $1. That's what I call a deal! The fact that I can still wear it pregnant is just even better.

I decided to bring out the green in the outfit this time around and I'm really liking it. I think it just gives it so much pep! I actually thought to myself this evening- maybe I could pull orange off with this as well? As a contrast? What do you guys think?

Pregnancy Produce Project: 23 Weeks Papaya

And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes.

I think babycenter is confused at the length of a typical mango. Because I went to several different grocery stores, and the mangoes (even the really big ones) are no bigger than MAYBE 8 inches.

So then I went to The Bump where they stated that at this stage, baby is about 11.5 inches long, the size of a Papaya. Which sounded about right, considering last week, the baby was the size of a spaghetti squash!

There is no doubt that this baby is growing. I can feel my skin stretching more and more and his movements are getting more and more obvious and you can even feel them on the outside! This feeling is something I can't even describe- it's so crazy and magical!

I'm so enamored with the little guy, too! Today, I decided to match the outfit to the interior of the fruit- as the inside of a papaya (which is very tasty, btw) is a nice orangey color. I love this orange dress- it's so super comfy! I paired it with easy brown & gold accessories for a simple look. After all, the papaya is the star of the show!

Navy Week: Day 5

First of all, I would be lying if I didn't admit that I got up a little earlier this morning (just 30 minutes or so) so I could see Will & Kate kiss on the balcony after their wedding. Such a precious couple! So happy for them!

Second- it's Friday! Wheee! and while I have even MORE navy stuff I could wear for "navy week" I'm going to stop here and do it again in about a month. How does that sound? LOL Today, I went with a classic preppy look. I love madras plaid- I think I've mentioned that before, right? I bought this blazer 3 or 4 years ago at Target with my birthday gift card (my IL's ALWAYS give me a Targetgift card for my birthday) and I knew it would be a workhorse in my closet. I LOVE this blazer. I got a ton of use out of it last summer when we went to Boston!

Anyway- I couldn't do navy week without wearing my madras jacket! And so this outfit was born. Simple. Classic. Preppy. Totally Andie.

(oh and have I mentioned that my son already has his first pair of madras shorts?- got them last weekend.)

and for your comic relief- how about another outtake? I forgot to set the timer to go with the wireless remote, so this is what happens when I'm in mid button-push. Nice, eh? I'm not sure what's up with that face. But that should give you a good laugh to get you through this weekend!

Navy Week: Day 4

So last night was exciting....

So I have been having some sharp pains off & on in my lower back on the right side lately. Then they went away. Well they came back again last night. So a call to the doctor and a trip to the hospital was in order.

NO worries- it's a little issue that happens in some pregnant women, but I'm fine! I did get to do a trial run at the hospital though- so that was good.

In other news- today I had to go back to the doctor to get an ultrasound to verify that what the doctor was thinking was wrong, was, in fact, my issue. He was right! I went into work early to get some stuff done and then headed to the doctor a little later on and spent a good bit of time there. But I had to get dressed in my navy for the week.

This time, I used my navy boyfriend blazer and cropped pants to make a pulled together look. I think I like it. I LOVE this maternity tank. It's super comfy. :) I added some red accessories to give the rest of the look a "pop" of interest. :)

Navy Week: Day 3

Yay! It's Wednesday and that means the week is halfway over! I've had a very busy week so I'm happy to see the weekend coming near!

In order to pep myself up today, I added some "sunshine" colors to my navy to give me a mental (and style) boost! I love pairing yellow with navy- i just think it's so fun!

This maternity top adds to the fun as well and I love wearing it! It is certainly a gem from my friend A, who let me borrow some of her maternity duds. Of course, I am also sporting my new fave orange necklace to give a little extra "pep" to the outfit.

Also, please disregard the massive zit on my chin. One of the side effects of pregnancy. I almost photoshopped it out, but then I thought- I'm trying to keep it real on this blog, and if I start airbrushing my blemishes, what kind of "real" blogger would I be, now? I know, it's bad... cover your eyes if you must. ;)

Navy Week: Day 2

On today's installment of Navy Week, I decided to wear a non-maternity frock and style it with a favorite color I like to pair with navy- aqua blue!

I love the color aqua and I love how it pairs so well with navy. It almost gives the neutral a boost of color that makes me think of heading to the beach, or at least makes me think of underwater life!

I actually put this look together really quickly this morning after realizing that I what I really wanted to wear needed ironing. Fortunately, I have an abundance of items in navy that I could work with to bail me out- and I was pleasantly surprised that this non-maternity dress fit the bill! I also found a belt in my closet that I could wear, so that was a nice pop of color as well!

Navy Week: Day 1

Last week I made mention that navy is my new "black" and I have tons of it in my closet, especially with maternity clothes!

So I decided to declare this week "Navy Week" and wear my new favorite neutral every day this week so that I could highlight how much of a neutral it really truly is!

Today, I went basic with this knit navy winner from Old Navy Maternity paired with a striped cardigan and orange highlights. I love navy & orange together... and I think they play well together for the spring/summer. I added the cardigan to the mix so that I had a little something to "complete" the outfit and to keep my arms warm while in the office- but if this were a regular day out and about not working, I'd totally sport this outfit sans sweater and roll with it.

Pregnancy Produce Project- 22 Weeks- Spaghetti Squash!

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn.

Happy Easter Blog Friends! I have had a fabulous long weekend with family and friends and I hope you have, too! Today's produce is one of my fave veggies- the spaghetti squash!

This past Friday, I took the time to go register with my mom, sister and two of my friends who have had babies recently. They were able to guide me and make suggestions for things I definitely need, etc. Fortunately, I have some very generous friends who are handing down some very nice, expensive items like infant seats, bathtubs, monitors and the like. But going into Babies R' Us and Target was definitely quite the experience! I had NO IDEA so many *little* things were needed!

Now onto the fun fashion stuff- I LOVE this dress. I actually picked it up at a children's consignment store that also sells maternity wear for $10! I was about to leave when I came across it peeking out at the bottom of the rack and I fell in love as soon as I tried it on. (and this was on Wednesday) I've already worn it twice since buying it. It's that comfy... and totally worth the $10 price tag. I really do like the way maxi dresses fit on my pregnant body as well... I find them slimming and just highlighting the bump, which I like (and the hubby does too!) I'm hoping to score a few more! Also, it's a reminder to never forget great deals at consignment stores when you are shopping on a budget!

Strike A Pose

It's not very often that I share "outtake" photos with you guys because, frankly, in some of them, I look pretty scary or silly... or the pictures are just plain horrible.

But this morning, when I was using my new remote, I actually *thought* I was taking a decent photo, but apparently the shutter caught me doing my best "Magnum" face a la Zoolander. So I thought it would be fun to share with you guys today. I look so serious, but I totally wasn't at the time... in fact, I think I was watching Scruffy bark at a squirrel in the backyard. (what's new there?)

I do like today's outfit/dress- except my chesticles have gotten bigger so it doesn't fit quite as nicely as it did when I first got it. I may have to retire this maternity dress if I can't get another wear out of it... bummer. (I also weighed myself this morning and nearly had a heart attack- I'm already up in weight significantly! ( must eat healthier!)

But I do love the colors in this dress and I like the red cardi/shoes and the orange necklace. I think it all comes together nicely. I feel pretty in this (even if I am feeling a little heftier) I do, however, promise to wear something OTHER than a dress and cardigan tomorrow. Cross my heart. I am taking the day off to go to some appointments and such and I already have a look in mind that does NOT involve my daily uniform as of late.

Remote Control

I finally stopped being a cheapie and bought a wireless remote for my SLR- I figured with the baby coming and all- I could use it to my advantage to take holiday pictures, etc. instead of trying to run back & forth like a nutjob between the tripod & the picture with the 10 second timer window. (I always feel so "off" when I try to take pics like that!) .

Today's pics are the first ones I took with the remote. I'm still trying to get the hang of taking somewhat decent pics with it, so please bear with me... I promise an improvement once I get a better handle on it!

So my outfit today isn't the most exciting (in fact, it's my uniform of late) Cardi, dress, flats, jewelry. Check. Have I mentioned I think I'm in a rut?

So I have a challenge ahead- please feel free to join me- I'd like to declare next week "Navy is the New Black Week" - I know I have plenty of navy in my maternity wardrobe and I want to sport it all week. Of course, this is my attempt at trying to get out of my rut. So we'll see how it goes. In the meantime, I'm off to play with my remote control.

Friend Fashion

I had almost retired this dress (which was once, Sarah's until she passed it on to me) because I didn't think it would still fit me with my burgeoning belly. But then I tried it on last night after I went through my closet to straighten it up and make it easier to find outfits since these days, I wake up early, but tired. (I would imagine its the multiple bathroom trips I take throughout the night)

I was so excited when I saw that it still fit. The smocked elastic waistline gives me a little extra room and it is super comfy. And it is great for camouflaging the fact that I may or may not have eaten my baby's weight in chips & salsa. Oh, and then proceeded to remove my belt as soon as I got in the car to drive home!

Again, goes to show you that you do not necessarily need "maternity" wear in order for it to fit or work for your pregnant body!

I originally was going to pair this simply with a denim or navy jacket, but I saw this cardigan in my closet and thought the dark pink would make a nice contrast. I like the way it all came together! I think next time, I will try it out with orange and see how that looks!

Pregnancy Produce Project: Baby Carrot

21 Weeks-
Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately

10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot.

So this week, my little bean is as long as a carrot! Lately I've been feeling him move around more and more regularly. That feeling is so strange and exhilarating all at the same time! It's almost like having a little wiggle worm in there rubbing his little feet around my belly.

I am still having fun getting dressed, but my closet inventory has definitely "shrunk" which is actually not a bad thing. It makes it a bit easier to get dressed every day. Although, I think I'm still in a rut when it comes to my maternity looks. I really need to start stepping outside the box!

In pregnancy news, I've been feeling pretty good although I've been eating some pretty crappy stuff lately (shrimp poboy, anyone?) So when I read in the big book (what to expect) that soon, baby will be able to "taste" what I eat, I decided now was as good a time as any to STOP eating whatever I want, whenever I want, and to reign it in and eat more fresh fruits and veggies. So I have been doing my best to eat lots of them the last few days. I want this little guy to be a good eater! Plus, I want to be able to fit in my pre-pregnancy clothes after he arrives!

So I love my maternity denim skirt, but I hate the ridge the panel in it leaves under my clothes. I didn't notice it all that much until I saw this picture. Oh well! I have a good excuse.

I didn't realize until after I took the pictures that my outfit today is almost exclusively from NY&CO. Soooo... NY&CO--- if you're out there- I'm advertising for you today- discount please?

This is yet ANOTHER one of those ruffle neck super comfy dresses I got from the 50% off sale. So comfy and perfect for summer days at the office and it works for both maternity and non-maternity! I had originally planned to pair this dress with a black cardigan and sandals, but when I looked at myself in the mirror, I looked DARK. Adding this pop of yellow just brings it up a notch (and clearly confuses my husband and the camera when taking my pic this morning, as it is overexposed yet again!)

I was trying to brainstorm other combos for this dress- pink came to mind, but that was about it. Do you have any ideas/suggestions?

Fancy in Florals

Phew! What a day. I can honestly say I was ready to get home and chill on the pool deck while the hubby vacuumed the pool. Fortunately, I wrangled him into taking my pics for me too. I actually went ahead and bought a wireless remote, but when I went to put my camera on the tripod, I couldn't find the little base for the camera to fit into the 'pod. So husband had to step in after all. Turns out he's not as annoyed now that he knows I have genuinely been trying to find a way to take the pictures myself. HA!

I adore this dress! I just love the colors and the print and I feel so whimsical in it. I really want to style it with a light blue chambray shirt and cowboy boots, but I never seem to have the opportunity to do so, as I think it may look weird for my office.

Although, I suppose I could feign pregnancy and roll with it?
